If you go to our Before His Throne, you will notice a statement we’ve issued: It matters not to us your political affiliation or who you voted for. As Christians, however, we have a moral responsibility to pray for those in authority over our land. Too many are complaining about the leadership of our country without falling to their knees first. I Timothy 2:1-4 and Romans 13:1, 2, 4-5
Many Christians have “settled” and have forgotten how to issue the battle cry. We have settled for mediocrity and, too often, think others will do it for us. But as believers in Jesus Christ, we have the responsibility and privilege to come before the Throne of Grace to seek God and His will for our lives and nation. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” As one people, let us ask Him to move mightily on our nation’s behalf to preserve the sanctity of marriage and family, the sanctity of life, and take back truth, justice, and the freedoms that were originally established by our forefathers.
Sadly, we have allowed ourselves to be stripped of the right to pray in many public places, including our schools. Do your remember the outcry of believers when the Ten Commandments was removed from many government institutions? If there was an outcry, it was either stifled by the media or it was just a whisper that very few heard. Many just shook their heads and did nothing. While Christianity has decreased, other religions have increased. When did we become so apathetic? We should be trembling, ashamed, and more than ever before, have a reverential fear of Almighty God. The same God that parted the Red Sea, healed the sick, was resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is the same God that can save us from the deception and lies that penetrate our existence.
But, we must pray and pray hard to move His hand. Pray that His power and blessing would rest upon us and our still great, but tested, land. Ask Him to raise up a mighty army to defend us and to protect our country as He did in days of old. Pray that He will give us victory. The battle is His but we must call on Him without ceasing and unite our voices and hearts in prayer and fasting. It has been shown time and time again that blessing follows obedience! But for change to happen, it must begin with each one of us praying in the power of the Holy Spirit and it must begin NOW.
I Thessalonians 5:16-18
We say it over and over again… God is SOVEREIGN and He is in CONTROL. God has always moved (and will move) according to His purposes. He also moves according to His timetable, not ours. This has been evident throughout history and will, once again, be known when He’s ready to usher in the “end-times”. However, as long as we continue to exist this side of Heaven, we must not be silent. We must lovingly share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world and stand up for Truth according to God’s Word while there is still time. Our battle cry should be, “Save us, O Lord! Deliver us from the atrocities against Your commands, to stop those who would take Your name out of our country and government. Raise up godly men to lead us and protect us, to forgive us the sin of apathy and to protect us from the evil that is upon us.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
We should unite in our prayers and pray from the depth of our souls as if our country and lives depended on it, because they do! Too often, we go through the motions of Chrisianity without real sincerity and passion. It’s time we put passion back into our relationships, first with God and then others. It’s time to make our love for God top priority. It’s time to get serious and turn away from apathy and slothfulness. It’s time to pray intently and dig deep into God’s word! Allow the Holy Spirit to move and work in our lives in ways as He never has before. Just as each vote counts in an election, each and every prayer counts for eternity!
Hopefully, all of us prayed with urgency for those running for office and left the results in God’s hands.
And after the election, no matter who wins, we will still get up the next morning, tend to the demands of the day, and trust God for His guidance and direction. Nevertheless, we must never let our guard down and return to the mediocrity we spoke of before. We must pray with fervency because, as we mentioned earlier, our lives (and country) most definitely depend on it. God is patiently waiting for us to raise our voices to Heaven, privately and corporately, to not only lift up those in authority, but to raise up Christians around the globe to be the love of Jesus to all mankind; to be His light in a dark world. Wake up believers. Time is short and it won’t be long before we hear the sound of the trumpet. Jesus is coming soon. Remember, “This life ‘twill soon be past but only what’s done for Christ will last!” Don’t miss the call to prayer. Don’t miss the call to action.
No Matter Who Wins the Election -
1. The Bible will still have all the answers.
2. Prayer will still work.
3. The Holy Spirit will still move.
4. God will still inhabit the praises of His people.
5. There will still be God-anointed preaching.
6. There will still be singing of praise to God.
7. God will still pour out blessings upon His people.
8. There will still be room at the Cross.
9. Jesus will still love you.
10. Jesus will still save the lost.
ISN’T IT GREAT TO KNOW WHO IS STILL IN CONTROL?
