Before His Throne - Prayer Requests

“From the moment we wake until we fall asleep, we must command our loved ones wholly and unreservedly to God, and leave them in His hands; transforming our anxiety for them into prayers on their behalf.”
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, theologian

LET’S UNITE OUR PRAYERS AND STORM HEAVEN ON THEIR BEHALF! LET’S PRAY UNTIL WE SEE A VICTORY!

NOTE: Your Prayer Request remains online for one month unless we hear from you to keep it on longer. We appreciate updates. Otherwise, we don’t know if the need is still there. Thanks!

  • Diana suffered a stroke a while back. She has improved since that time but still has some numbness and cannot sit for any length of time before her legs go numb. She is a wonderful Precepts leader but has had to step aside until she gets well. Her doctors keep telling her it will get better with time, but she, understandably, grows impatient because she doesn’t feel she is. Please keep her in your prayers.
  • Cheryl (10/20/08), age 57, normally a picture of health, has been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer after a routine colonoscopy. UPDATE 11/21/08: CHERYL is in a very weakened condition. She begins her trips (130 miles one way) to chemo-radiation. The family asks for prayers for safety in traveling and that the “cocktails” she will be receiving get to the right spots to kill the invading cancer and protect the rest of her fragile body.  Cheryl has 6 weeks of this daily travel and the weather where they live has been icy, rainy, and windy. In just the last two weeks, she was to have had the “simple procedure” of a port installed in her jugular vein so that the chemo could be administered when it was time.  One mistake after another led to the catheter being put in the carotid artery rather than the jugular and this led to a stroke due to loss of blood. Then, surgery was 5 hours instead of 1.  She also had a collapsed lung which led to lack of oxygen and subsequent surgery to repair the collapsed lung. After the surgery, they ran a CT scan and found 3 spots on her brain which was first determined that the cancer had metastasized to the brain, but later found to be shadows from lack of oxygen and the fact that her port had never been flushed. Cheryl underwent a second surgery to move the port from the artery to the vein and repair the damage to the carotid artery. Now the effects of the stroke are slowly diminishing except for the fact that her natural process of chewing food and swallowing has been damaged and she was terribly black and blue. Now she begins her chemo treatments. Please pray!!!
  • Evie, two-years-old, has just been diagnosed with SNA .. Spinal Neuron Atrophy.  Her muscles are not developing.  It is the number 1 killer of young children in America.  It is virtually a death sentence.   Pray that the Lord will give them wisdom in choosing doctors who will help them care for this young child.  Her family also had a new baby boy earlier this year and since this is a genetic disease am sure they will have to test him for the gene as well.  Pray for their comfort and peace and faith in God’s Sovereignty.  UPDATE 10/14/08 - Evie is progressing a bit better than expected.   She is now wearing braces that have allowed her to stand with support.   They are hoping she may be able to walk.   Her diagnosis is level 2 SMA, which is not the worst but still more limiting than some.   Long term prognosis?  They don’t know and are pretty much living day to day.  Unless God grants a miracle the disease will eventually cause her to lose the ability to breath as her lung and heart muscles fail, thus leading to death.  They were blessed to find out that their infant son does not carry the gene, so should not have the disease. A real praise!
  • LORA and her husband have been married for 25 years and have 4 children (ages 24, 22, 20 & 16). He has been a truck driver for the first 22 years of their marriage and was usually gone for 2-3 weeks and home only 1-2 days. Lora prayed for him to come home 3 years ago and he did until this last winter when things slowed in his local job. He just returned to his truck driver job and she has little peace about this job. They have financially floundered in the last 10 months and are presently facing a possible eviction if they don’t come up with a substantial amount of money before the end of October.  They have been homeless 3 times before & have such a fear of that happening again. Lora started her own business but it’s not going like she thought it would.
  • JONLYN has been on a waiting list for a heart transplant for over a year. She is now on an IV AND a heart monitor. Because of the need for the medication and heart monitor, she was able to move higher on the list. She has such a sweet spirit and loves and trusts the Lord, but would really like a new heart SOON! Please pray these added therapies will keep her strong until a COMPATIBLE heart becomes available.  Also pray (along with Jonlyn) for the family that will loose a loved one so she can have their heart.”
  • Earlier this summer, Audrey requested prayer for DEBBIE. Schizophrenia was destroying her. She asked that we pray that she’d be a living testimony of our God’s power. At that time, she was in a facility where she would get the help she needed. Debbie showed signs of improvement for awhile.  LATEST UPDATE 10/1/08 Debbie has been in an adult foster care home. Audrey has visited her. Debbie has to find somewhere else to go by December 4th. Please pray that the Lord would direct her footsteps and have His way in this move.
  • Three-year-old BROOKE is in Chicago’s Children’s Hospital with Leukemia. Brooke’s grandma, Vicki, is seeking your prayers for this little one. Please pray that she recovers and that her family is comforted. They are a very strong Christian family, but this is taking it’s toll on all of them.
    UPDATE (9/01/08)
    :
Brooke has her Chemo shots tomorrow at Children’s Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. UPDATE (9/28/08): This Phase of Chemo seems to be going well. Praise God that she has been able to stay energetic and out of the hospital any more than she has needed. She has been dealing with a cough and runny nose, but with a ANC at 1030 and no fever, nobody is worried. She has roughly 3 weeks left of this round so we ask for more of the same - the next round won’t be so pleasant.
  • Please be in prayer for SHARON’S brother, ALEX and his precious six-year-old daughter, CASSIDY. Cassidy is living with Sharon and her family while her dad, Alex, is interviewing for jobs. Cassidy’s mother, MARY, is in and out of hospitals or jail for serious psychiatric / medical problems (lifetime history and tragic upbringing). Please pray for God to intervene in each of their lives according to their individual needs, particularly wisdom and direction for Sharon and Alex, protection for Cassidy, and His hand of healing and mercy on Mary. May Alex, Cassidy, and Mary all know God’s love and power in each of their lives.
    UPDATE (10/4/08) MARY
committed suicide. The family, however, is trusting God through this incredible time of grieving and loss.  In the depth of darknesss, there is much joy. About 3 months ago, Mary’s pastor said she asked Christ into her life. Please continue to pray for Alex and Cassidy. They are now living with Sharon and her husband and Cassidy will attend school in the area and is surrounded by people who love her. Alex is seeking employment in the same area so he can be close to his little girl. UPDATE (11/9/08) Please continue to pray for Cassidy. She seems very fragile right now and Alex needs employment.
  • GINA is a pilot for a large commercial airline and is on medical leave for an injured shoulder. Her range of motion is very limited and actually re-injured it again this past week. If she doesn’t get a medical release by November 19, she will lose her job. UPDATE (10/1/08) GINA’S shoulder is improving. Please continue praying through the next few weeks so she can be fully healed and return to work. Thanks!  UPDATE (11/10/08) Gina’s shoulder continues to get better but not in time for her to keep her job. Please pray that she’ll know God’s peace and direction.
  • SHARON has asked for prayer for her father, MARSHAL, and mother PAT. Sharon’s father has succumbed to the debilitating and progressive disease of dementia. He is only in his early 70s. Marshal’s disposition has, in many ways, turned negative and increasingly relies on alcohol for comfort, both are contrary to his character. Please pray that he will get good, quality care and pray for wisdom for the doctors on how to best treat him. Pray also for his wife, Pat, that God will protect her heart from seeing her husband go through these changes. Both are strong Christians.
  • STACEY (late 20s) is struggling right now and needs God’s favor. Received Christ at early age but lived totally apart from the Lord after high school. Restored in many ways, but recently broke up with her live-in boyfriend, had to financially move back home (hard for any young adult), got a great job but is a LONG distance from home, and her truck just broke down. Please pray for her complete, spiritual restoration, an answer to her vehicle problems, and direction for her life. Pray, too, that God would send a mature Christian into her life… someone Stacey can totally relate to and God can use to draw Stacey back into fellowship with Him. This is a time-sensitive issue for a number of reasons. UPDATE 8/28/08 - Stacey has moved back home for the time being and was offered an older but good car at minimal cost, but is still in desperate need of a touch from God spiritually. On-going.
  • JANET has requested prayer for her mom’s salvation. JOYCE is terminal and her heart is hard to hearing and receiving anything about God and salvation.
  • RUTHIE and her husband are still trying to sell their home. Pray for God’s good and perfect timing. The market isn’t good right now, but all things are possible - in God’s will! 11/09/08 Contract pending.
  • SANDY has asked for on-going prayer for her husband who has been battling depression. Please, ladies, pray for her and with her for her husband’s complete deliverance from this disease.

COFFEE CUP FRIENDS also appreciates your prayers for this ministry and our team.

Then, remember to pray for our…
CHURCHES, MILITARY & THE LEADERS OF OUR COUNTRY

It matters not to us your political affiliation or who you voted for. As Christians, however, we have a moral responsibility to pray for those in authority over our land. Too many are complaining about the leadership of our country without falling to their knees first.

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come in a knowledge of the truth.”
I Timothy 2:1 - 4

“Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God…The authorities are sent by God to help you… are established by God … So you must obey the government for two reasons: to keep from being punished and to keep a clear conscience.”  Romans 13:1, 2, 4-5

GOD IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE, SOVEREIGN!
HE IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY OVER EVERYTHING!
Now, that’s a PRAISE!

I love Before His Throne and how it is written. I will print it and pray for those requests. I’m glad you gave directions on how to submit prayer requests. The bible verses are always a blessing and I’m glad to see so many of them throughout your articles.

    Hello, Coffee Cup friends!
I want to give you an update on Debbie and ask for your continued prayers. I know I’ve been asking for prayer for some time, but remember the widow in the Bible?! Debbie has been discharged from the hospital where she was being cared for and I don’t know where she is. The Lord knows! Sometimes the Lord has to tie our hands before He does His work.
    Thank you, dear sisters!
    In Christ,
    Audrey

    Hello, again, dear sisters!
Debbie has been in an adult foster care home. I’ve been to visit her. She has to find somewhere else to go by December 4th. Please pray that the Lord would direct her footsteps and have His way in this move. Please phrase this as you see best and add this to your “Before His Throne” prayer requests. Thank you!

    In Christ,
    Audrey
